The best ways to care your pets
Pet owners should always understand how much time their pets need outside. This includes both day and night time. Many dogs love being outside, and having access to fresh air and exercise helps improve their health. However, if they do not get enough time outside, then they may become depressed or anxious. If this happens, then the best thing you can do is spend some quality time together.
Feed them right
If you have decided to keep your pet indoors, make sure to give them nutritious food. A lot of people believe that dry dog food is healthier than wet food; however, many experts say just the opposite. Dry food requires less water, which makes it easier for your pet’s digestive tract to function well. On top of that, giving your dog wet food means extra work for you, since you have to constantly monitor the amount of food your pet eats.
Clean regularly
Your pet will probably shed quite a bit of fur throughout the year. Make sure to clean them regularly, especially when they go outside. You can use a wide-tooth comb (with soft bristles) to remove loose hair. Be careful though, because overzealous combs can hurt your pet's skin, causing painful lacerations. Use clippers instead to cut down on hair loss and irritation.
Exercise daily
Dogs require two to three hours of exercise per day. However, sometimes busy schedules mean that you cannot take your dog out for a long walk each evening after dinner. But don't worry! There are numerous ways to make sure you're keeping your pet active while you're at home. First, set aside a few minutes after dinner for playtime. Take a ball or frisbee and toss it around the room. Then, once your dog gets tired, offer him some treats to reward his good behavior.
Watch the weather
Although it doesn't seem like it now, winter is coming soon. This means cold temperatures, snow, and ice. Your dog might want to stay inside, but that can cause problems. Dogs who live inside tend to develop serious respiratory issues if they aren't able to breathe fresh air often. So, if you plan on keeping your dog indoors until spring arrives, make sure to provide plenty of ventilation. You can install window fans or open doors and windows during colder months to help with circulation.
Keep them safe
Make sure that your dog is wearing comfortable and appropriate clothing for different weather conditions. He'll thank you later. Also, make sure that he isn't chewing anything hazardous. Finally, consider using a leash when taking walks. If you are taking a long walk, make sure that you bring along plenty of water, snacks, and toys to keep your pet entertained.
Play with them too
When you first brought your dog home, you were excited about having a friend at the house. And although you don't have to treat them in the same way you would humans, you should still try to bond with them. Spend time playing fetch with your dog, going for short walks, and offering them lots of affection. A happy, well-fed dog is even happier!
